Anyone who has visited Japan knows how convenient Japanese convenience stores are. They’re perfect for picking up snacks, drinks, hot meals, and even clothing.
Beyond shopping, convenience stores in Japan offer a wide range of services. You can pay utility bills, send and receive packages, and now Japan’s largest convenience store chain, 7-Eleven, is introducing a new service that will be especially welcome for travelers: luggage storage.
7-Eleven has partnered with luggage storage provider Ecbo Cloak to roll out the service at 378 stores across 26 prefectures in Japan.
Ecbo Cloak storage is already available at selected cafés, shops, and post offices nationwide. However, at 7-Eleven locations, the service will be available 24 hours a day, making it even more convenient. Many 7-Eleven stores are located near major train stations, where demand for luggage storage is particularly high.
This is great news for visitors to Japan’s most popular cities, as they won’t need to search for an available coin locker upon arrival. It may also benefit local residents by reducing the number of travelers carrying large suitcases onto buses and subway trains.
With Ecbo Cloak, customers can reserve storage in advance through the mobile app"ecbo cloak" or website(https://cloak.ecbo.io/enw). Prices are 500 yen per day for smaller items such as backpacks or handbags, and 800 yen per day for larger suitcases—approximately $3.20 to $5.10.
※Not all locations offer this service, so we strongly recommend making a reservation in advance.
Payment is made in advance, after which travelers can simply drop off their luggage at the selected store and enjoy their day, knowing their belongings are safely stored and can be picked up at any time.
