Tenshin-an in Kamakura

Tenshin-an, located in Kamakura, Japan, is a serene tea house renowned for its traditional architecture and tranquil ambiance.

Tenshin-an's architecture reflects the principles of traditional Japanese design, with sliding paper doors, tatami mat floors, and exposed wooden beams creating an atmosphere of understated elegance.

In the back room of Tenshin-an, you will be overwhelmed by the beauty of the round window. You can also see traditional Japanese hanging scrolls there.

As of April 2024, unfortunately, the round window can no longer be seen at Meigetsu-in Temple, which is famous for its round window.

Kenchoji Temple has been serving Kenchin jiru for more than 700 years and it spread throughout the country as monks trained at Kenchoji Temple were dispatched to various regions. Kenchoji's Kenchin Jiru is a vegetarian dish, so no animal products are used, and the broth is made from kelp and shiitake mushrooms.

Kenchoji's Kenchin Jiru is a vegetarian dish, so no animal products are used, and the broth is made from kelp and shiitake mushrooms. To be honest, the ingredients and taste of Kenchinjiru are very simple. But this buddhist cuisine was what a monk in training eats.
