Shibamata is famous for one of movie series “Otoko wa Tsurai yo” and there is the oldest shopping street in Katsushika-ku, connecting Taishaku-ten Temple and Shibamata Station.
There are many shops and you can eat and enjoy the Japanese famous local foods, Dango [rice dumplings] and Senbei [rice crackers].
When passing through the gate of two gods made entirely of Japanese zalkova, there are impressive structures such as the Taishakudo which enshrines Taishakuten, and the main temple.
This is the statue of Tora-san in front of Shibamata Station. Kiyoshi Atsumi acted in Japanese comedy film,“Otoko wa Tsurai yo” as Tora-san.
